Facts about Bonus Drugs under the Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.

The so-called “Bonus Drugs” are certain drugs that are not part of a typical prescription drug program.  In short, these drugs can be purchased using the Part D plan’s cost-sharing discount or co-payments, which means buying these bonus drugs would not count toward your total drug spending as part of your Medicare Part D plan.  Such examples of these “Bonus Drugs” are as follows…

  • Alprazolam
  • Lorazepam
  • Cosmetic drugs like Vaniqa and Lustra
  • For erectile dysfunction such as Viagra and Cialis

Furthermore, bonus drugs are usually offered through the Part D plan under a discount program.  It is worth noting that there are different policies on Bonus Drugs with each Medicare Part D plan (they may offer the bonus drugs, or no bonus drugs at all).  Call us at 1-800-365-6121 or e-mail us at timcbroker@aol.com if you have any questions.
